Christobel is no longer available for charter

We are sad to announce that we are leaving the area and since we are unable to continue operating our charter business our beautiful Edwardian launch is now up for sale. (If you are interested in acquiring this magnificent boat then further details can be found at: Apollo Duck.)

We would like to thank everyone who has been aboard during the time we have been moored at Sonning. We enjoyed sharing with you the pleasure that Christobel has brought us over the years.

We have left some of the original website online for anyone that is interested in seeing Christobel's history but please do not contact us.

A Little Luxury on The Thames

On the backwaters of the River Thames, moored in the beautiful historical village of Sonning lies a 'Grand Old Lady' celebrating her 104th year afloat. Built in 1911 of teak on an oak frame the Gentleman's launch 'Christobel' is a taste of Edwardian luxury. Once aboard she enables you to slow your pace, relax and rejuvenate whilst enjoying the natural beauty and tranquillity of the river Thames. You are welcome aboard for a couple of hours or for the whole day. 'Christobel' is ideal for celebrating special occasions, wedding transport, business meetings, corporate events, afternoon tea, an evening cruise, Henley Royal Regatta, The Henley Festival or just for time to relax together away from the pressures of life.

“ The river up to Sonning winds in and out through many islands, and is very placid, hushed. It is a part of the river in which to dream of bygone days. It is the most fairy-like little nook on the whole river ”

Facilities

We provide a skipper and crew member for every charter, who will navigate Christobel on your cruise, as well as providing a good source of knowledge about the boat and area's you are visiting. She is an ideal launch to accommodate up to 8 guests comfortably, in her glass enclosed cabin, or in the forward canopied cabin and wheelhouse. As well as offering Edwardian charm and character, Christobel also embraces 21st century comforts, with a spacious toilet compartment, and a fully waterproof zipped canopied cover which can drop down over the forward cabin, to allow guests to enjoy all aspects of their cruise in comfort in a typical English Summer….. Luxurious fleece blankets and a tot of Rum are kept on board for guests encountering these treacherous conditions!

We welcome guests to bring their own refreshments on board but can easily supply or arrange catering for guests ranging from drinks and canapés, afternoon tea, picnic baskets, finger buffets and waitress serviced meals.

“ What a beautiful boat, what a great crew and what a fantastic trip to Henley Regatta. Brilliant! ”
